How the Orlando Crowd Score works
This site turns posted standby waits at Orlando’s big theme parks into one number from 1 (very quiet) to 10 (extreme), plus a mini-score for each park.
It covers Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Epic Universe, and SeaWorld Orlando. Water parks are left out on purpose.
The formula
For each park we look at operating headliner attractions — the popular rides people actually queue for, not every spinner, exhibit, or walkthrough. We average their posted standby waits.
If fewer than three headliners are posting a wait (seasonal closures, refurbishments, early morning), we fall back to every operating attraction that has a numeric standby wait, and we treat that as a thinner reading.
The citywide score is the average of parks that are open right now, rounded to the nearest whole number. Closed parks are labeled Closed and left out. If every park is closed, you see a dash instead of a score — not a made-up number.
Starter scale
Until a park has at least 50 of our own open-park snapshots (about a week of operating hours at a 10-minute cadence), we map the average wait to a score with these fixed bands:
| Score | Average headliner wait |
|---|---|
| 1 · Very quiet | 0–14 min |
| 2 · Quiet | 15–24 min |
| 3 · Easygoing | 25–34 min |
| 4 · Moderate | 35–44 min |
| 5 · Getting busy | 45–54 min |
| 6 · Busy | 55–64 min |
| 7 · Crowded | 65–79 min |
| 8 · Very crowded | 80–94 min |
| 9 · Packed | 95–109 min |
| 10 · Extreme | 110+ min |
What happens once we have history
We record our own snapshots every 10 minutes. We do not invent historical numbers, and we do not import anyone else’s archive.
After 50 snapshots for a park, that park switches to a percentile score: how today’s average wait compares with this park’s own past snapshots. A 7 means the current average is higher than about 70% of what we have recorded there. We have collected 12 snapshots so far.
Hours and missing data
Each park card shows today’s regular opening and closing times from ThemeParks.wiki. If the feed also lists extra windows — such as Early Entry or other ticketed hours — we show those too. Extra hours are displayed only; they do not change the crowd score. If a park is outside its regular hours and isn’t posting waits, we mark it closed. If it is inside hours but waits have not appeared yet, we say so instead of guessing.
Orlando weather
Current conditions and today’s forecast (including the high, low when posted, and chance of rain) come from the U.S. National Weather Service for Orlando. We cache that reading on the same 10-minute refresh as the crowd score. If the weather service is briefly unavailable, we leave it blank rather than guess.

Where the data comes from
Live waits and schedules are from ThemeParks.wiki, used under its free tier with the required credit. The data must stay an input to this page, not a feed we pass on, so this site does not offer a public wait-times API or bulk export.
Weather comes from the National Weather Service. Photographs are public-domain images of downtown Orlando and Lake Eola — see photo credits.
Wait times originate in the parks’ own systems. They are estimates and can be wrong, stale, or missing. This is a planning convenience, not an official crowd calendar, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Disney, Universal, or SeaWorld.
